Go To Lawyers: Neil D. Golden

Mass. Lawyers Weekly Staff//December 31, 2025//
Years in practice:
50
Best known for:
Hopefully for my sense of humor. I am best known for my sophisticated knowledge of real property law (sometimes called title law), condominium development and all matters covered by condominium law, representing developers in the acquisition and disposal of multi-family commercial property, and representing lenders in closing commercial loans.
Why I chose my practice area:
I graduated law school in 1976, and while not as bad as the 2010 meltdown, jobs were few and far between. I learned to love property law at law school, took every real estate course available at Boston College Law School, and found my way into a job doing residential real estate.
Most memorable case:
My pro bono work is always the most meaningful. Working with the Yawkey Foundation in the acquisition of the Family Inn, and donating my services serving as title counsel to large law firms representing pro bono clients. Besides that, I guess the most memorable would be doing the title for everything that Massport owns, including all of Logan Airport, Hanscom Field, the Tobin Bridge and the Commonwealth Flats.
What makes me a leader in my field:
It is not that you consider yourself a leader; it is when colleagues both within my firm and throughout the city come to me to help them sort out thorny condominium, title and development issues. I value the legal community’s faith in me.
Outlook for 2026:
As with everything else: Artificial Intelligence. Whether in title analysis, drafting condominium documents and loan documents, I don’t know.
Bar involvement/leadership roles:
President, Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts, and served on its Forms and Title Standards Committee for 30 years; REBA Board of Directors, Nomination Committee and Executive Committee; longtime member of the Abstract Club
Representative clients:
Massport, Sea-Dar Enterprises, Back Bay Development, Barkley Development, Beacon Communities, The Village Bank
