Years in practice:
20
Best known for:
Commercial real estate
Why I chose my practice area:
I was exposed to construction and real estate development from an early age. The legal profession rewards experience and I was able to leverage and build upon my early experiences with real estate when I started practicing law. It’s also a rewarding practice area because in many cases you can see the result of your effort come out of the ground.
Most memorable case:
My most memorable cases are those that have required me to draw from experience in several distinct practice areas to accomplish clients’ goals. Cochesett Estates in West Bridgewater is a project that comes to mind — 92 homes on 81 acres adjacent to wetlands, without town sewer available. The permitting and development process required navigating Title V, wastewater treatment plan regulations, Wetland Protection Act regulations, and condominium law. Similarly, our client’s recent acquisition of The Whitney Hotel in Boston was memorable, combining an operating business, restaurants, and physical real estate assets.
What makes me a leader in my field:
I’ve been fortunate to represent clients in collaborative, worthwhile transactions that allowed me to work closely with industry leaders and form lasting professional relationships. In less-than-amicable transactions or those involving distressed assets, I take the lead in finding common ground and identifying collective goals to make difficult situations as smooth as possible for everyone involved.
Outlook for 2026:
Real estate law changes slowly, so major shifts are unlikely. However, artificial intelligence and machine learning will continue improving the due diligence process. Firms like ours are still addressing compliance questions and refining policies to determine what AI tools work best.
Bar involvement/leadership roles:
I chaired RIW’s summer internship program for seven years, mentoring aspiring law students. I’m a member of the Boston Bar Association, NAIOP and the American Bar Association’s M&A Group.
Representative clients:
Egeria Group, Stonebridge Homes
