Being an experienced commercial real estate lawyer and for being detailed, practical, an effective negotiator, and someone who can get a deal done without antagonizing the other side.

Why I chose my practice area:

I enjoy the collaborative nature of the practice, working with clients to identify their key goals and issues and then using my skills to negotiate with the other side, protect the client, and achieve a good result. Also, real estate has a tangible aspect to it. I can identify a building or a project that resulted from a team effort. I also enjoy becoming a valued advisor to my real estate clients.

Most memorable case:

The development of Armenian Heritage Park on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. I started working on the project in 2004 and served as pro bono corporate and real estate counsel. After over six years, during which we endured a difficult public process, we secured a site, negotiated a contract with a state agency, received approvals for construction, and raised enough funds from the local Armenian community to construct the park. I’m proud of what we accomplished and my role in that endeavor, and I’m happy that we created a valued public park that is not only meaningful to the Armenian community, but also an asset to Boston and a place to celebrate the immigrant experience.

What makes me a leader in my field:

My skill level, knowledge base and past leadership positions in real estate industry groups.

Outlook for 2026:

As with many practice areas, we are assessing how AI will impact us and how we can use AI to be more competitive. My goal for this coming year is to determine best practices for implementing the use of AI.
