Years in practice:

13

Best known for:

Commercial real estate, commercial finance (including tax-exempt bond financing and business planning.

Why I chose my practice area:

Early in my career, I developed a focus in commercial real estate because of my experience as a member of the special permit granting authority in Springfield. I am currently president of the Springfield City Council and have served for 16 years, gaining experience in permitting and zoning matters. I enjoy the full scope of work in commercial real estate conveyancing — the nuances of title work, permitting, financing, and development.

Most memorable case:

The most memorable matters are when I help clients solve complicated real estate problems with creative and effective solutions. Thinking outside the box and using past experience to address unique commercial real estate challenges is fulfilling work.

What makes me a leader in my field:

Effective attorneys must be thorough and have diverse knowledge in title matters, financing, and zoning. But true leadership is about treating others well. The best legal leaders show respect and humility when dealing with bar members, paralegals, clients, consultants, and stakeholders. I strive to be thorough, experienced, and respectful to all parties.

Outlook for 2026:

AI will likely bring significant changes to legal practice. It’s a tool that should be respected, harnessed, and feared. The most successful lawyers and firms will utilize AI responsibly without jeopardizing work quality.

Bar involvement/leadership roles:

Adjunct professor for corporate finance, Western New England University School of Law, 2022–present; president, Springfield City Council, 2014–2016 and 2024–present; board member, Western New England University School of Law, Center for Social Justice; member, Conservation Law Foundation, Legal Services Food Hub, 2024–present
