Years in practice:
35
Best known for:
Being a deal maker on high-profile projects, whether public-private partnerships, negotiating development agreements with municipalities, or guiding developers through the permitting process for projects under Chapters 40B, 40R, MBTA Communities, or other residential, mixed-use, or commercial developments.
Why I chose my practice area:
My involvement with local land preservation and environmental efforts in high school evolved through college and law school into a passion for real estate, environmental, and land use law. I enjoy getting involved early in projects to strategize for success and navigating the unique challenges each project presents.
Most memorable case:
Permitting the 3.8 million s.f. Amazon Robotics Fulfillment Center in North Andover — the largest Amazon facility in New England — which led to approximately $1 billion in investment, 1,500+ jobs, and over $85 million in benefits to the town. Also memorable was permitting the former Green Meadow Golf Club redevelopment in Hudson, NH, which became a 2.4 million-sq. ft. warehouse for Target Corp. Most fulfilling have been numerous affordable housing projects where I’ve helped provide shelter to those with the greatest need.
What makes me a leader in my field:
I believe in shaping land use and environmental policy at state and local levels. As a longtime member and seven-year Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the Massachusetts Homebuilders and Remodelers Association, I’ve helped shape public policy on housing, environmental, and regulatory matters.
Bar involvement/leadership roles:
Governor’s Economic Development Planning Council Member (2015); MEPA Advisory Group (2021-present); Homebuilders & Remodelers Association of Mass., chair of Governmental Affairs Committee (2013-2020) and board member (2004-2020); NAIOP Massachusetts Chapter, Environmental Committee Co-Chair (2002-2004); Boston Bar Association, Environmental Law Section leadership roles; New Hampshire Bar Association member (2004-present).
Representative clients:
Hillwood Investment Properties, Taurus Investment Holdings, Criterion Development Partners, Sovereign Partners, Bluewater Property Group, RCG LLC (among others)
