Healey sends Governor’s Council 3 nominees

Gov. Maura T. Healey has sent the three new nominations, tabbing a pair of sole practitioners for judgeships in the District and .

Lt. Gov. announced the nominations at the Governor’s Council’s May 6 assembly: Gregory A. Bartlett as clerk-magistrate in the Southern Berkshire District Court; Georgia Petropoulos of Brockton as a District Court judge, and Alison Silber of Longmeadow as a Probate & Family Court judge.

Bartlett is currently a first assistant clerk-magistrate at the Northern Berkshire District Court, a position he has held since 2012, according to his resume. Before that, he was an assistant district attorney in the Berkshire County DA’s Office from 2010 to 2012.

Petropoulos has run her Brockton solo practice since 2004, according to her resume. She is a member of the Committee for Public Counsel Services and previously was an ADA in Plymouth County. From 1994 to 1996, Petropoulos was a legislative assistant for former Sen. Michael Creedon, after working as his legal assistant between 1990 and 1994.

Silber has maintained a solo practice since 2011 focused on family law issues. Silber is a mediator at Collaborative Resolutions Group and at the Family Resolutions Specialty Court within Hampshire Probate & Family Court. In 2016, Silber founded the Solo and Small Firm Section within the Hampden County Bar Association.

Councilors plan to hold hearings on all the nominations on May 27.
