Governor’s Council confirms Juvenile Court judge
State House News Service//May 8, 2026//
The Governor’s Council has unanimously confirmed a District Court assistant clerk-magistrate as a Juvenile Court judge.
Kristin Michaud, confirmed at the council’s May 6 assembly, has been an assistant clerk-magistrate in Somerville District Court since July 2021, according to the Governor’s Office.
Before that, she was an attorney and mentor on the Children and Family Law Panel and was an assistant district attorney in the Middlesex County DA’s Office.
The council held off on considering another nomination on its May 6 agenda, that of Vincent DeMore to the Parole Board.
In April, several opponents raised concerns about Gov. Maura T. Healey’s nomination of Vincent DeMore to the Parole Board, saying the body does not need another voice with a background in law enforcement or as a prosecutor.
Councilor Tara J. Jacobs told State House News Service after the meeting that she planned to vote against DeMore’s nomination and agrees with many of the opponents’ points. She added that she hopes Healey will retract DeMore’s nomination.
