Years in practice:

20

Best known for:

I’m primarily recognized for defending national and regional law firms, particularly AmLaw 100 and NLJ 500 firms, against legal malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, Chapter 93A, and other professional liability claims. My colleagues know me for achieving complete dismissals in high-exposure cases, often involving claims seeking millions to tens of millions of dollars.

Why I chose my practice area:

My practice in legal malpractice defense evolved naturally from my litigation background and my commitment to serving the legal profession. Representing attorneys and law firms allows me to combine complex litigation skills with an understanding of the unique challenges lawyers face.

Most memorable case:

Without disclosing client names, a few cases that stand out include: a complete dismissal of $2 million in legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty claims against an AmLaw 100 law firm, a decision which was affirmed on appeal; a complete dismissal of legal malpractice, Chapter 93A and other claims against two attorneys relating to a real estate transaction, also affirmed on appeal; and a complete dismissal after jury trial of legal malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, and Chapter 93A claims seeking over $10 million against an AmLaw 100 law firm.

What makes me a leader in my field:

Beyond achieving favorable outcomes for law firms and lawyers, I contribute to the field through writing and speaking. I’m the primary author of my firm’s Law Firm Defense blog and newsletter, write for various legal publications, and speak at national and regional bar conferences.

Outlook for 2025:

Artificial intelligence will increasingly shape the legal profession, both as a tool and potential source of malpractice claims. Breach of fiduciary duty and Chapter 93A claims will continue to be increasing causes for concern.

Representative clients:

National and regional law firms, including AmLaw 100 and NLJ 500 firms, individual attorneys, boutique law firms and businesses in complex commercial litigation.
