The respondent was disbarred on a reciprocal petition for discipline following disbarment in New York based on respondent’s felony conviction of unlawful possession of child pornography.
Summary
The respondent, George Royle, V, is an attorney duly admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth on January 25, 2002, and had also been admitted to practice in the states of New York and Maine. The respondent had been suspended from practice in Massachusetts since October 21, 2024.
On November 26, 2024, the State of New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, First Judicial Department, disbarred the respondent based on the respondent’s November 30, 2020 felony conviction in the United States District Court for the District of Maine of unlawful possession of child pornography.
On September 23, 2025, pursuant to S.J.C. Rule 4:01, §16, Bar Counsel filed a Second Petition for Reciprocal Discipline with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court for Suffolk County. On November 24, 2025, the parties filed a waiver of hearing and assent to an order of reciprocal discipline. On December 5, 2025, the Court (Kafker, J.) entered an order disbarring the respondent from the practice of law in Massachusetts.
