A shareholder and management committee member at KP Law in Boston, David C. Jenkins has represented public sector clients on employment matters for decades, building an unmatched reputation for levelheaded, zealous advocacy.
Jenkins currently serves as labor counsel to numerous municipal clients for collective bargaining, individual employment contracts and employee benefits, as well as grievance and arbitration and disciplinary hearings before state and federal agencies.
Jenkins also acts as lead trial attorney on behalf of public sector clients in major litigation in state and federal courts and agencies before agencies like the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination in cases involving labor and employment, allegations of tort and civil rights violations.
Jenkins, who has served as lead town counsel in several municipalities himself, also serves as the primary contact for several town counsel clients. In this capacity, he assists in a full array of general municipal issues, including town meetings, municipal charters and by-laws, conflict of interest, public records, Open Meeting Law and municipal finance.
Additionally, Jenkins has negotiated hundreds of collective bargaining agreements while assisting municipalities and other public sector entities with grievances, hiring and firing and employment issues of all kinds.
More specifically, Jenkins’s accomplishments include negotiating agreements with numerous public employee unions, including police, fire, public works, library and schools, over employment contracts and benefits.
Jenkins is also actively involved in negotiations involving increases in employee health insurance contribution rates, co-pay amounts and other health insurance changes.
Additionally, he is involved in non-union employment contracts and in advising public sector employers on the implementation of the agreements.
